Police at 6:17 p.m. Aug. 19 took a car jack to an Olmsted Township officer due to a cat stuck in a car engine. The police log did not mention the outcome of this potential cat-astrophic position or whether it was stuck in a Furrari.

Parking violation: Forest View Drive

An officer issued a citation at 3:55 a.m. Aug. 19 for parking on the street overnight.

A motorist was cited at 8:49 a.m. Aug. 19 for driving with expired plates.

An officer at 9:41 a.m. Aug. 19 cited a motorist for speeding on Cook Road.

An officer went to a residence Aug. 19 and found its door frame damaged from someone trying to break into the apartment. The incident occurred sometime between 5 a.m. and 4 p.m. Aug. 18. No entry was gained.

A resident called police at 9:39 p.m. Aug. 19 about someone who pounded on the door. That action almost pushed the lock open on the front door. The victims did not see the perpetrators when they looked through the door’s peep hole. Officers searched the area first before heading to the residence. They also spoke with other women on the street who said they also experienced door pounding.

An officer saw a car in the driveway with its door open at 1:21 a.m. Aug. 22. The officer made contact with its owner. The man forgot to shut his door during the rainstorm. The incident checked out OK.

An officer at 8:25 a.m. Aug. 23 cited a motorist for passing on the left over a double yellow line on a nearby street.

A stopped train at 8:38 a.m. Aug. 23 blocked the Columbia and Lewis roads crossings.The train was also blocked Brookside and Mapleway. It began moving very slowly. It was noted in the police log that if the train moved 20 feet, the Mapleway Drive crossing would be cleared. Road closed signs were put out at 9:11 a.m. Police helped a few semi-trucks turn around on the north side of the tracks. The city contacted Norfolk Southern Railway again and were advised the train would move in about 30 minutes. That was at 9:50 a.m. This was the third blocked crossing incident during the week.

Police stopped a car at 10:45 a.m. Aug. 23 whose driver had a few warrants. He also had a few other things, such as marijuana and a gun, found under his driver’s seat. The K9 helped find the items. The driver was arrested and transported to the Strongsville jail.
