With the most recent trailer, that Nintendo released about the new Zelda Tears of the Kingdom, Zelda-fans are even more hyped for the release in 2023. Here is everything we know about the new Zelda game so far!

Zelda Tears of the Kingdom is Nintendo's upcoming action-adventure game, the latest entry for the legendary game series. The sequel to Breath of the Wild has gained a lot of attention recently, after Nintendo released a second trailer and the name of the new game in the Nintendo Direct livestream on September 13. Now Zelda fans are obviously speculating about any hints for what this game could be all about. Here is everything we know so far about Zelda Tears of the Kingdom.

Together with the latest trailer, Nintendo finally revealed that Zelda Tears of Kingdom will be released on May 12, 2023. Many fans are disappointed that the release won't be in 2022 as was originally announced, and understandably so. But we just got the first concrete release date, so let's hope that Nintendo will stick to that and won't postpone it again.

Okay, so storyline-wise, we can't say much of anything for sure, because there is a lot of room for interpretation from what is shown in the trailers. As usual, the trailers are full with hints and tiny details about the new game, leaving an open space for all the nerds to analyze it all. Here is what we think, what the Zelda Tears of the Kingdom storyline might look like.

What we see first, in the second trailer, is a stone wall with multiple carvings. As in Breath of the Wild, these kinds of stone carvings always tell a certain story. In the trailer, we can see a mysterious figure with an almost animal-like mask. The figure is surrounded by seven similar symbols, that look like water drops. The number seven is a recurring number in almost every Zelda game and is always related so something of major importance. Maybe these seven symbols could be somewhat connected to Link's abilities. These waterdrop-like symbols could also represent the Tears of the Kingdom.

In the very first trailer in 2019, we saw Link and Zelda, exploring a cave, probably beneath Hyrule Castle. We could also see that Ganon was trapped in there, held down by a glowing hand from above. Somehow he was able to free himself and that was when the Castle of Hyrule began to lift in the air.

In the stone carvings from the most recent trailer, we see some sort of battle between humans or human-like creatures and Goblins. Unfortunately, there isn't much to say about that battle, but it might play a big role in the story of Tears of the Kingdom.

We also think that Princess Zelda isn't really present during the battle, and it almost seems like she is trapped in some sort of underworld. From the teaser in 2021, we know that, after Ganon freed himself, Zelda fell into a dark hole. Fans are speculating if she might be trapped in some sort of dark world, beneath Hyrule where Link has no access to. Maybe she will be able to communicate with Link and guide him, like she did before in many Zelda Games.

What we can conclude from the trailers, is that Zelda Tears of the Kingdom seems to play in the same world as Breath of the Wild. Well, it won't be the exact same world, because there now are floating islands, and we also don't really know in what era it will take place. The game could also tie right into Breath of the Wild, where we had the Divine Beasts, which represented the Zelda-typical Dungeons. We assume that Link won't be going through that again in the sequel, so Nintendo must have thought of something else...

Maybe it will be Link's task to collect all the seven tears in seven dungeons? Well, this is just speculation because we didn't get any hints for dungeons in the trailer, but that does sound a lot like typical Zelda gameplay and would make sense as one of the setups of the game.

In the trailers, we also see a lot of floating islands in the sky, which reminds us a lot of Zelda Skyward Sword. We saw Link using his paraglider to travel between these floating islands, as well as riding a stone bird... Does this remind you of something?

After taking a look at the new title, we see that the Master Sword has absorbed this mysterious green matter, which we've already seen in the trailer. What does that mean? Will the Master Sword have different powers now? Does Link have it from the beginning? We are dying to know what all of these hints are leading to, and will hopefully find out more about it in the upcoming months.
