Professional Tool Reviews for Pros

The V20 drill by Craftsman has been available for some time now, but the company decided to update its look to be more recognizable as part of the Brushless RP line. Sound familiar? Craftsman also gave visual updates to its CMCD732 hammer drill and CMCH234 rotary hammer to include them in this lineup, too. The same branding is now being done to this drill to help you differentiate which tools feature brushless technology. Let’s dive into its features to get an idea of if it’s the right drill for you.

The CMCD713 drill features all the same details and specifications as the CMCD710 Craftsman drill, just with a cosmetic update to better include it in the Brushless RP line. RP stands for Runtime and Performance, which is what Craftsman wanted to emphasize by including many of its existing tools in this lineup, too.

The CMCD713 drill has a brushless, 350 UWO motor that provides up to 25% more runtime than previous drill models (excluding the CMCD710, of course). It also features a 2-speed gearbox that will get you speeds of up to 600 RPM or 1900 RPM, respectively.

The Craftsman Brushless RP drill also includes 15 clutch settings, so you can choose the right amount of torque for the job. Additionally, bit changes are made easy thanks to its keyless 1/2-inch ratcheting chuck.

The Craftsman Brushless RP Drill retails for $129, which is the price for the kit. Along with the tool, you get two 2Ah V20 batteries, a V20 lithium-ion charger, a storage bag, and a double-sided bit tip. Craftsman backs your purchase with a 3-year limited warranty.

Clearly, you don’t need to pick up this tool if you already have a brushless V20 hammer drill. However, we do like that Craftsman decided to clarify its lineup so that consumers better understand what each tool provides when they shop. At $129 for the kit, it doesn’t take an in-depth review to know this tool presents a pretty decent value.
